FORMAT:
Time: Qualify at 8:10pm SA (GMT+2)
Qualify: Race 1 '20 minute unlimited laps'
Race 2 'Superpole= 1 out lap followed by 1 hot lap'

REMEMBER........1 POINT FOR POLE POSITION


Race 1: 19 Lap straight sprint with no pit stop

Race 2: 19 Lap with 1 pit stop= At least 4 tires MUST be changed. Pit stop must be completed at least 2 LAPS before the end of the race.

Both races will have a standing start.

Ballast will be added after each round, not each race.

For next season, we are hoping to use a brand new 2014 version of the new Kyalami Track which is without the chicane. The conversion is being done by RaZoR as I type this.

RaZoR is gonna walk this with only 30kg. Maybe Ratang will keep him company in the Viper as it's good on straights but it'll be hard to overcome 30kg deficit. For me it'll be just a challenge to keep the laptimes stable in the mid-low 12's and see what can come up from this Looks like 90kg is worth more than 1.5s here in my case (I can do 1:10 flat without weight)...

Well... it's a honor to be guest in the home track of the league
I always love the challenge and variety of historical tracks and remember this as a very thrilling track in GPL (not sure if it's exactly the same layout). I'm looking forward to drive it in the F40.
I loved that downhill chicane by the way.
Michal you already did very well with 60kg compared to our 30 last race, so who knows... I also expect Razor to be very fast (this is an easy bet ) and expect a big fight between all the other of us.
Anyway ballast will also play a major role in Monza, so whoever finishes out of the podium will have a good chance to make up points the week after...

I normally do well here. However, it's the type of track that takes a lot of mental strength if you are on the edge all the time.
Touch the grass and you gone. The curbs are also a worry.
Think it's going to be a good one.

Christie and the rest of us amateurs are doing 1:13, so looks like all the cars will be within 2 or 3 seconds of each other. Tight 0ne this.

Not true - I saw Peter doing 1:11's ;-) It's an easy track to get a good 1 lap in, but not so easy to get 19 good laps in a row

I do 1:13's constant, so hope it's enough to keep me in mid field at least.

Qualifying lap in my Diablo without weight and in TT mode, 1:09.789. May come handy for those seeking braking points and lines.

Well well well I'm very happy with this race! My testing yesterday had been a disaster and I felt totally unprepared. Then today I switched to hard tyres and found the consistency I was lacking.
Q1 went good, I am always very close to Razor but never in front it seems hehe.
R1 I started very badly, I still haven't found the sweet spot for it although I have been practicing a lot. Sorry for those behing who were affected, I will practice again and at some time I will get those starts!! So thanks to the mess I created I found myself P2 after mate Haribo, who was also quite desperate this morning in PM but found some great speed since then! I was on hards and was struggling to keep with him, but at least the car behaved consistently. Sadly he crashed in his usual pirotecnic way but i was happy to see him so fast till it lasted. Later on Razor caught me and passed by, also thanks to me going a bit wide at barbeque, but at least I could keep Michal at some distance and finished in P2, much higher than I had hoped. I am happy I was quite fast and consistent, with only a minor mistake. Probably my best performance so far

After successfully avoiding it for 18 laps, I hit the wrong curb in Q2 and started about last. I couldn't avoid the car that went sideways at the start, sorry. Luckily I had no big damage. To avoid taking risks and losing time in the big group I pitted on lap 1. i got lapped by Razor but was happy to see I could more or less keep his and Michal's pace. I went on with small mistakes here and there, not a clean race as R1. Nonetheless I was P4 (and P3 in GTPro) after the others pitted, and was closer to Michal as expected, I think something went wrong with his pits. I had a good fight with an impressive Peter for P3, we went side to side on the big straight. Then he went off track and I could pass, but he kept close until we both almost spun, but he was stuck on a curb while I wasn't
Not a perfect race but again big fun, and a podium I didn't think possible.
Congratulations to all, expecially Peter, Michal and Razor. Next week is Monza in my country, the track where I saw my first GT race live, and the 90th victory of Michael You are all welcome my friends!!

Sorry I missed the race. I've had an internet issue with Afrihost. I've basically been internetless the whole afternoon, do to an issue with authenticating my connection. Bummer. I actually know this track well, and I was looking forward to a solid race.

I wasn't looking forward to the race at all because as my team mate said I was nowhere with setup and pace. Then came the golden line from him: "precision means PRECISION'... So I went on the track 1.5 hour before Q1 and pounded 'round the track comfortably with the default setup, then with the help of my team mate, I managed to find a setup I liked.

Q1 was average at best for me. Forgot where I qualified but was around the middle. Peter was always unreachable with his low 1:11. I was satisfied to be able to put in a high 1:11 considering that my qualifying simulation in practice was pretty much crappy, lapping in the low 1:12, not a time I would expect with soft tyres and low fuel. Race start came and I was nervous (a long time since I felt that) and turns out it was a good sign that I was nervous. With what I think is the best start of my season so far, I was leading the race into turn 1, with my team mate behind me. I kept a 1.1 to 1.3 seconds gap to KK, but sometimes the gap lowered down to 0.8. Then came to time where I ran wide onto the grass, hit the elevated grass block and did a flip. Lost P1, P2 and P3 by the time the car reset itself. Luckily, not much damage... I struggled with tyre wear (and hence understeer) from there on and lost tons of position. I ran on mediums and that was probably why I had pace at the start of the race.

I skipped Q2 because my pedals were 'spiky', the same old problem where the brakes come on for no reason. Sorry if this caused any trouble for anyone as the whole time I was jamming the brakes, trying to get it back to normal. Started last for race 2. Took the start slow and same tactical error as last week at Abu Dhabi where I did not pit immediately to avoid traffic. And then I hit the 'sweet spot' at one turn and I flew, hit the barrier and got heavy damage. Spent time to change tyres and repairs, and that was effectively the end of my race.

I guess positives can be taken from this round but not too much... Still have tons of stuff to seriously work on, pace isn't up there anymore. Nice to see Peter up there, with superb times as well as others who finish a lot higher than they normally do. Congratulations to RaZoR for his home victory and KK for doing such a great job recovering from Q2, and especially the great lap in Q1.

Looking forward to Monza where I have no ballast. Hope it helps big time and get things right because I don't intend to stay below anymore...

Q1: 4
R1: 3
Qual was OK, though I was expecting to go below 1:11 but just couldn't get a decent lap in. Start of the race was comprimised by KyuKyu's slow getaway which forced me to lift and I lost some ground in the run to T1. After some collision there I was running 4th behind Ratang (or Robbie, don't know as they drive the same car) and Haribo with KyuKyu were gaining ground. I couldn't match Viper speed on the straight especially with my 90kg but on lap 3 (I think) Ratang went very early on the brakes to T1. I almost felt brake tested and I immediately switched to inside line and launched an attack which I made stick. Then I had to defend from Christo who was a bit faster but he overestimated his braking abilities into T1 so I let him go wide and then cut inside to keep my position. He lost some ground there and I was safe (only let RaZoR go, as it wasn't useful to fight with him) in 3rd after Haribo's mistake.

Q2: 1
R2: 2
In qual everybody messed up their laps so I could go pretty conservatively and still get pole, this point may be important Also watched Haribo mess up Luis's, Kevin's and Andreas's laps in qual. Mate if you're having issues just press esc especially as we're having superpole qualifying and you could wait to be on the track all by yourself.
Started good and got about a second lead on RaZoR in the first lap but the inevitably he was faster than me. I just let him go under braking to T1 and focused on keeping my 2nd position. Was going good, gained about 5 seconds in pits on Eugene but when I was on my outlap I caught grass and lost 10 seconds recovering. Still I managed not to slip down the ranks and had some 2 seconds on Peter McNair and KyuKyu who was following him. Then I found the rhythm and kept the laptimes steady to finish 2nd without fighting on track.


Seems that on Monza both me and Eugene will be on 90kg ballast and it'll be interesting to see who can manage this better. With Liaan and Morgan coming back and with Ratang on 0kg it'll be hard to even get podium spots so maybe finally I'll lose some of that ballast ;-) Also Christo shown some good pace he just need some more consistency and close quarters skills and he'll challenge for race wins too.

q1: was ok, surely some air up, especialy on this track important to be in front as overtaking as not easy

r1: start was ok (pushing michal a little bit), seeing haribo flying start, first corner i had to make room, an hit somebody (think rozor), sorry for that.
had to let christo threw, who tried to attack michal & robert(?)
when they get into problems i had to evad not to crash into them and get some aero damage (razor passed me then).
Christo made an mistake and was passed by razor & me.
then focusing holding up christo and trying not to make to many errors.
then had some fights with haribo, who is always lagging and horrible to overtake.
i made it somehow and had the luck that he blocked christo from attacking me driving alone to the finish.

q2:was a good and important for getting a free way

r2:at the end q2 was not enough, christo made an cross over the start and i crashed into him and then the following played pinball wizard with me.
had to start from finish and figure out how bad the damage is, after some near fatal corner rides i was able to run 1-13-5 without repairing, if the race may be 5 laps more i could catch kevin & ratang (as i was closing 2/3 secs a lap) but thats life.

of course i was very mad/angry, as whitout the starting accident, a 2nd or 1st (in GTam) was pretty safe for me, but thats racing.

conclusion : focus more on qually

Just couldn't come to grips with the car and track combo.
I didn't make mistakes, but just had a hard time finding any speed. The car was sliding a lot. Also, the tires were running very hot most of the time. Setup I think was wrong.
Race 2 I forgot to add fuel after qualifying and was forced to pit from 6th on the sixth lap to refuel which took 55 seconds. Blew my race and will teach me to be more on the ball in future.

My best two races so far. Set up a reasonable time during Qualifying and made very little mistakes on this my favorite track.
Had a few problems when my tyres were shot during the first race but changed to mediums for second race and very much improved to take number 3 spot amongst the am group. My teamie Razor excelled  by winning the two races and that should give our points standing in the team championship quite a boost. Thanks Eugene.

Hi Guys

Sorry for late post as I haven't been around since the race.
I enjoyed the race a lot even though I didn't get the results I was looking for. Its not about that though is it?

First race I ran into the back of Razor again after his slow getaway, then I spun it up too much as I couldn't hear my revs with the noise of all the other engines. (I will turn their sounds down).
Big  apologies to Ratang for wrecking his start when he hit me off track.
Was fortunate to get going again & made the most of it.

Race 2: At last I got a good start missing Christos startline wipeout.  Relished the moment when I overtook Ratang at the end of the straight due to my car having a higher straightline speed. Then the chase was on for Michal but he knew what he was doing and kept the gap consistent. I figured KyuKyu's tyres would go off at the end of the race as I noted he pitted on lap 1. So I wasn't bothered when he got passed me due to my error. was going to have him in the last couple of laps but he spun in the chicane & i shit myself so did likewise then got stuck on the high kerb. thought I was going to be there all night but eventually got off with a 50% engine due to revving the nuts off it in every gear possible. 

The close racing was fun due the ballast working well.
Maybe the GTPro guys should have a permanent 30Kg ?
